At the request of Preston, I have two extra special movie reviews. The first is for
The Gamers.
The Gamers is about a group of friends playing D&D. This is a must see for any role playing game fan, or just a fan of awesome dorky movies.
As the friends are playing, it cuts back and forth from them in their dorm room, to their characters on their quest to save a princess from a villain called The Shadow.
I really enjoyed the premise and thought it was really funny. I loved the whole concept.
I give The Gamers a 10 on the Dork-o-Meter
The second is for the sequel
The Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising.
The first thing one notices about Gamers 2 is the production quality. You can totally tell they had a bit more money and people working on this movie. Those elements, along with a great story and really fun characters, led to a fantastic movie.
I enjoyed Gamers 2 a bit more than the first one because of the story and the character development. You have the main character Kevin, who was in the first movie as Newmoon the elf. In Gamers 2 he is working on a story for a new role playing game, but he is having a hard time writing it down. He has his friends play through his campaign, but they always die, because they don't want to play for a story, they want to play for the action and battles.
With the introduction of Joanna, a girl gamer, Kevin gets his friends to try his campaign one last time and this is where we have a great story develop. Once again we have the group playing with the cuts to them as their characters on the quest.
This movie was really cute and funny, there are also a few cameos by characters from the first movie. Which is the only thing that really connects the two.
I highly recommend watching this one. You can get the DVD through netflix and can also watch it online. I'd get the DVD. :)
I give The Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising, a 10 on the Dork-o-meter
I posted the links for both of them! Check them out they are both fantastic!!
