your power of description on that climb down is fantastic. the world nearly spins as i glance at my own feet and think of what pippin might have seen laying below him. very nice.

Thank you so much, nancylea! I'm usually weak when it comes to descriptions so I'm glad it came across well!

Oh, I do love Pippin's thoughts as he descends the side of the mountain--your Pippin voice is very good here: He stopped for a moment, and glanced upwards. All right, he had to be at least half way there by now. Easy does it, lad, he whispered to himself. Only five hundred more feet to go! *grin* "Only" five hundred feet! Poor Pip!

And I love the way all the bigger members of the Fellowship praise his accomplishment and Merry's--and I'll bet it was fun to make them blush!

Thank you, Barbara! AT first when I was writing, I had it at 100 more feet to go, but then Elanor pointed out that probably wasn't big enough for a mountain, LOL!

How frightened he must have been! But he had done it, because Gandalf had asked him to. He had trusted Gandalf, believing absolutely that the wizard wouldn't have asked him to do anything he wasn't capable of doing.

What a lovely story. I adore it when hobbits are respected and valued. This bunny is very happy to be adopted by you!

It's lovely to see Pippin get the praise he deserves for that difficult and courageous deed! And I like that Aragorn seems so positive that Frodo and Sam will survive to join them. This would have been wonderful to see in the movie!

Thank you, Ibilover! Yes, Pippin certainly deserved praise for his deed, just as much as Merry did for his.

Hooray! Finally to see this linked back to the books! Poor Pippin--he has had reason to feel uncomfortable!

Thank you Larner! Yes, poor Pippin... his deed really was very courageous, and without it, the battle probably would have been lost, so it was very important.
