so last night i am watching tv right...now i know that most people who have LJs are too busy translating Shakespeare into Sanskrit or are too busy studying the kabbalahaahulahala to watch tv, but for a dullard like me tv eases the pain of life..so anyway i am watching MSNBC INVESTIGATES and they are talking about gutter punks in portland oregon...now hate is a strong word...i don't hate anyone (except that guy that played urkel...him i hate)...however last night i was REALLY hating those jackasses...man alive i can't stand those people.....one jackass in particular, a pregnant 18 year old street urchin, went on and on about how she didn't want to raise her kid to be a "sheep" or "yuppie in a suit going to work each day..." and that's where the hate in me really came out: all these kids claim to hate society and capitalism but have no problem begging for the fruits of someone else's labor (and i'll weigh brainpans and go toe-to-toe about Marx with anybody)...they have no problem begging for change and money from the very yuppies they claim to hate so much...i wish i could find the dana gould bit cuz he is much more eloquent on this matter...he sez, when asked for some spare change, "i can't give you my money...this exchange of goods and services is the very backbone of the system you claim to hate so i can't infect you with my dirty capitalism...i can't be the snake that lures you out of the eden like paradise of sidewalk living..." then the lady said she had a nightmare that her kid became white trash...honey that was no nightmare that was a brief vision of prophecy....i just cannot stand these alternateens that have skimmed a classic comics version of some anarchist philosopher then claim to be self-imposed outcasts on the fringes of society...if these wastes of human life actually believed what they preach they wouldn't be on a street corner in a Misfits shirt, a leather jacket and a pair of Docs they'd be up in the mountains somewhere living the communal dream...but that takes work and effort...and i bet you can't score heroin up in the mountains....
and since i am venting here i'll continue..these kids are the same fuckheads who go on and on about how christians and republicans brainwash their kids and rob them of choice, yet i bet they see no contradiction when they raise their kids as vegans or buddhists or shintoists or whatever foolish new age nonsense is popular at hot topic...how is raising your kid to follow a system of ethical beliefs based on the idea that eating animals is wrong from birth different than a southern baptist raising his kid to have short hair and wear polyesther suits? seems to me the kid is being brainwashed and molded on both sides...ah well...i am just pissed at those gutterpunks still...i could be wrong on the whole deal...
