Ascending a Mountain Slowly

Title:  Ascending a Mountain Slowly
Word Count: 100
Rating: R for language and violence
Challenge: # 10 - A surprise or cliffhanger ending
Characters:  Cobb is the only one I can say without ruining it
Warnings:  Torture. Not overly graphic but disturbing at the very least. I offer you a cute kitten in my icon to counterbalance it.

In the blackness, the only thing that Cobb is sure of is the cold knife pressed to his throat. The voice that rasps in his ear is harsh and unrecognizable.

“Lingchi. Death by a thousand cuts. One drag of the knife through your flesh for each minute of agony I suffered at their hands. You abandoned me to their depravity you miserable fuck and now I am their depravity. ”

Realization dawns, followed by a horror that chills his blood. He manages one word: “Nash?”

“Not anymore.”

A sickening sound of metal tearing through flesh but it’s Arthur who screams.

Author’s Notes: Someone in one of the Inception writing comms presented the idea of Nash not being dead and I wondered what would happen if Nash ever ran into Cobb and Arthur again. I blame that exchange, the nearly three hours I spent at the DMV today, and watching Brick over the weekend for not only this drabble but the desire I have to write a longer fic about this (I even started notes for the fic while at the DMV). Title is taken from a source that said the term lingchi derives from a classical description of ascending a mountain slowly.

drabble, inception, inception100
