He chuckles softly, stepping closer into the room. "Questions I hardly mind, my lady. I am, as you have guessed, quite new here; so I may not be the most qualified to answer you. But I shall try.
"Eomer and Faramir are... troubled. What I understand of the matter is that lord Faramir's brother, who he and I ran into in the hallway not long ago, was very recently dead. Lest any misunderstanding rise from this matter, I give you my full assurance that whatever his status may have been prior to last evening, he is now very much alive and somewhere nearby. As for Eomer and Faramir... I understand lord Eomer went out to the barn some time ago. Faramir and I parted ways a short time ago so that we could change out of clothing we had worn out in that weather when we went searching for Haldir. The Elf is... elsewhere. I know not of his whereabouts. We did find him briefly, and he seemed troubled to me, but then, perhaps all Elves are like that. It has been a very long time since I knew any.
"The one you call Issy has not yet made my acquaintance. Luthien was here before the rain began but I have not seen her since my first night in the Steward's Quarters. Also there is a cat in the house somewhere.
"As for me... well, if you do not know who I am by reputation, then my history is not worth knowing, for it is a long tale and a sad one. I am called Gorlim the Unhappy, and this name has not been given to me without reason. But I shall not burden you with my woes. I was pulled out of the bushes several nights ago by lord Faramir, and I have been here ever since.
"And there you have what news I am able to give you, my lady."
Somewhat startled by her abrupt change in demeanor, he fidgets with his sleeve cuffs for a moment before resolutely walking to her. He sits beside her, one hand resting lightly behind her shoulder.
"Ah, what tragedies have befallen to cause such pain to one so lovely?" The question is posed half to himself, and half to the still air around them. He searches through his pockets to find his handkerchief, which he gives to her. "Here, my lady... Weep, if your heart sorrows... but only so your tears may spend themselves. Save a smile for lord Eomer when he arrives. He loves you, I am certain -- let him see your smile. You have been away from him, I gather from your words. Well, you are home now, my lady. You are safe here. Surely there is some joy in knowing that?"
He doesn't exactly believe her, but is at a loss for what to do about it.
Women... he thinks to himself. Always have to be such bloody females...
He moves away from her slightly, still there but not intrusively."My lady, I swear to you that as long as I am able to fight, no enemy shall come near you. I will not ask where you have been or what trials you have gone through, for I am certain you wish it to be none of my affair. But I shall aid you in whatever way I can, if you but command me."

"Boromir? Boromir's... alive?"
She sits back and starts giggling.

Lothiriel continues giggling until the laughter turns into tears of grief.

"Yes, I'm sure I'm as safe here as I can be. I... I'll sort things out with Eomer."
