Just going to stick with Sherlock fics for this one. In a bit of a writing lull at the minute so I'll probably do a few more memes to try and snap me out of it. :)
The story of mine I'd most like others to read: The
Long Ago (and Far Away) 'verse. I just have so much fun doing the research for this and writing it, and I'm so happy that people seem to enjoy it so far. I was very close to putting this into the 'easiest to write' section, because it's fine once I've got the details sorted, but being the history nerd that I am, actually getting those details sorted takes an awful lot of time and often isn't very easy, even if it is really interesting. I went to the Imperial War Museum to do research for this and recently I've been spending a lot of time in the library reading about Bletchley Park. But that's all besides the point; I really do love writing this and I'd be very glad to see anyone enjoy it.
The story of mine that was easiest to write:
Count Spackula's Visit. Oh God, this utter crack just flew from my brain into googledocs. It's an Inbetweeners crossover. I'm still not entirely sure whether I'm quite proud of it or utterly disgusted with myself for finding it that easy to write a character as repulsive as Jay.
The story of mine that was most difficult to write:
You're the One for me, Fatty. Ugh. UGH. This has found its way onto a reclist and I just want to reach through the internet, take the reccer by the shoulders and give them a good shake, because this fic is awful. I'm not fishing for compliments or anything - I genuinely think it's ridiculous and it was so hard to write and this was what made me swear off writing anything that could be seen as even vaguely canon-compliant (except PWPs) for good. No. I'll stick with my AUs, thanks. You can go and stand in the corner, fic.
The story of mine that's received the most surprising reaction:
The Detective. I was still new to writing for the Sherlock fandom when I wrote this and seriously underestimated how much people enjoy crossing Sherlock with the Whoniverse. I'm still completely surprised (and thrilled) when I think about how I stumbled across the tumblr squee relating to it, and how I woke up to beautiful art for it three mornings running and how glad I am that people still enjoy it. I've had a few incidences of 'oh, she wrote The Detective!' when something else I've written is posted/recced or what have you, and I feel very very lucky and very very pleased that people liked it. :)
The story of mine of which I'm most proud: I'm proud of both The Detective and the Long Ago (and Far Away) 'verses, but the singular story I'm most pleased with would probably be
Measuring the Size of the Human Voice. It's another one where I was quite surprised by the reactions to it, and it's another one that was quite easy to write, but I remember being really satisfied when I finished it. I don't know, I like the structure.
Sorry for all the vanity! :S Your comments are very welcome.
