http://www.deviantart.com/view/11454716/ It's a video about the sketchy debate of banning Pitt-bull's...the law has passed that these dogs must wear a mussle while outdoors, I refuse to make my dog wear a mussle (he's a Pitt-bull/Golden lab cross, looks like a pure bred Pitt-bull) I find the mussle cruel and more than likely uncomfortable for the dog, if other breeds do not have to wear a mussle than why should mine, the other breeds are just as likely to bite someone if provoked. The images in this video are very graphic and some are quite painful to watch, by the end of the video I was in tears with those images floating around in my head and the thought of someone doing such a thing. I'd be damned if someone did those things to my dog, they'd end up in just as much pain or worse.
Pitt-bull's like any other breed of dog attack because they are provoked, feel their safety is being threatened or the safety of their owner, or because they have been taught that sort of behaviour...they are not born that way!!
The reason people center out Pitt-bulls as a vicious breed is because when they do attack they attack to kill, they are very strong thru-out their body and especially thru the jaw...their physical appearence, unfortunately, makes them a threat.
I can't count how many times now while walking our dog Rich and I have been stopped by other people and told we "picked a horrible kind of dog", "keep that thing locked up", "Pitt-bulls will be banned and then what will you do?!", "That dog has to have a mussle on", "They should be destroyed", "That's not a safe pet to have" etc etc...and the other people that don't stop to voice their 'oh so important' opinion walk off the sidewalk and as far around us as possible....nobody will even give our dog a chance, he's only 8 months old, we treat him right with plenty of love and attention, he's a happy dog who loves everyone especially children, and he has the sweetest puppydog eyes ever...why would anyone be afraid of him?
