a poem

wrote this a while ago, thought i would share. :)

Cigarette

Although it is broad daylight
the whiff of smoke from your cigarette
that brushed my nostrils
curled my lips and raised my eyebrows
provokes a memory of drinking cheap beer
in dilapidated houses
while laughing, somewhere past midnight.
My mind drifts.
Your laundry detergent, so pungent,
mingles flirtatiously and I am lost
in waves of reminiscence.
A spring breeze carries the puff
past your head and mine
as I continue walking -
imagining warm, dreamy nights
past and to come.
