Fire alarms are not fun things to wake up to

This morning at 6:30am I was woken up by the beautiful sound of the fire alarm. Well, I didn't actually realize that's what it was at first. At first I thought it was the door alarm, and so rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. Then after it didn't go off for about 5min I got a little suspicious, as suspicious as you can get when it's 6:30 and you're really groggy, so I jumped out of bed, stumbled out into the hallway, and saw the firealarm flashing. I went back inside, grumbling loudly about the stupid person who burnt something, because that's what always happens, stuck on flipflops and a jacket, woke up Rachel, and walked outside. It ended up being a lot colder outside then I thought it was going to be, so the flipflops and light jacket weren't my best decision ever, but it was 6:30 in the morning and my brain doesn't work to well at that time. So people start slowly trickling out of the building in an assortment or pajamas, bathrobs, and a couple people who had the forsight to put on clothes. About 10min goes by, at which point some other people come out, because they had thought it was an alarm clock and just not gone outside. Then the firemen show up and go into the building. Just as a side note, none of the RA's were outside the building, meaning they were still asleep, and they actually never woke up. A number of people completely slept threw the whole thing. Anyway, the person who had let the firemen in came back out a couple of minutes later and sad the building was actually on fire. The elevator had been having electrical problems, and they thought that it had just spontaneously caught fire...woops. There wasn't any smoke or anything, it just started to smell sort of like bacon, which made us all really hungry. Then another group of firemen went into the building, but were they hurrying, no. Walking at a normal pace, nope. They were sauntering along like they were walking threw a field of daisies! I always thought that if there was an actual fire they'd walk a little faster, apparently not.

They put out the fire. Everything's alright, I don't think anything got damaged, except the elevator of course. Apparently a bunch of people completely slept threw the fire alarm going off for 30min! Another group of people eventually woke up, but then just didn't go outside, because they figured someone had burnt something again...brilliant. So yeah, I've decided that waking up to a firealarm is one of the worst ways to wake up, because after you stand out in the cold for 30min, it's really had to go back to sleep.
