So, one of my co-workers asked me if I had gotten my bike yet yesterday, and I agreed to try the ride to work today with him as my trail guide

It's certainly worth having a bike around here. I know how hard it is to want to replace something that's been stolen. Three times I bought CD players for my car and EVERY time my car was broken into and it was stolen... so, no more CD players for me (no, not even the ones with the removable face plates). ;)
What kind of lock were you using? I think I'm gonna buy a new one, my bike is 15 years old so it doesn't make much value but...
Umm... *embarassed face* it wasn't locked. It was in the basement of my apartment building... Yeah, I know, I was a dumb ass for trusting that it would be safe.
It was a shitty bike. It wasn't worth anything. But it was the first "adult" bike that my folks got for me when I was 10, so it meant a lot to me, you know?
At the moment I have to drive 10 miles to work, so it's not really bikable, but I'd really like to be able to bike to my closer haunts. Perhaps it's time to start shopping on craigslist...
You aren't a dumb ass for expecting people not to steal from you.
I put mine in my unlocked garage here, I really have no other great option. I think it's fair of me to expect no one will open my garage and steal my bike.
Oh, and my bike is the exact same thing, the "adult" bike my parents bought me. I'd be sad to loose it.
Yep, craigs list and free cycle are the way...
And there is a grocery store near here and because of the road layout it takes like nearly 10 minutes to drive there, but only a few to bike there! Convient for last minute items... the co-op is bikable, but only if I have a lot of extra time.
My grandparents both had bikes in their garage, worth like $750 a piece. They were both stolen and they live in a really nice area with virtually no crime on a dead-end street in St. Francis.
You're making me want to replace it!
