On a lighter note ...

Did not read much LJ stuff today. However, one of
flamingwingnut's journal comics got me thinking ...

---begin memory flashback---

I was never much into sports ... however I did live two blocks away from the U of M's Michigan Stadium until I was 16. Michigan Wolverine football was not a sport, but a way of life.

The first impression it left on me was when my mom would order pizza when the game had about one minute left. That was back when Dominos had a 30-minute or less deal or your pizza was free. They never had a chance with the game traffic.

I remember walking back from the store and my brother bought two tickets from a scalper who wanted to get rid of his remaining tickets since the game had already started. We missed the beginning, but Allen got them for cheap. Not too long after, I started to realize you could get sympathy by being a cute kid. "How much? But I only have five dollars ..." They were suckers and I still had another $15 for hot dogs and peanuts.

When I was older I started collecting cans and bottles left in the seats after the game and would end up breaking even and sometimes making money.

I am a nerd. I am a comic nerd, a computer nerd, an art nerd, I hate sports ... but I love Michigan football. Go Blue!

---end---

BTW, if you have not read flamingwingnut's comics, you should. Insightful, funny and close to home.
