Emily is coming home later today!
Since I only briefly mentioned Emily's surgery in my journal, I will clarify that this had nothing to do with the previous surgeries to her liver and portal vein. Emily had a couple of ultrasounds in May and they showed her mesocaval shunt is still flowing nicely. This surgery is due to the partial Y chromosome that occurred with having Turners Mosaic. That means, that as she gets older, her ovaries will start acting like tumors and/or her body will reject them. It is better we take care of them now than later when it is a problem. This was a laparoscopic surgery to remove her ovaries and they also fixed her abdominal hernia from her previous surgical scars.
Emily is still in a lot of pain as can be expected, but is recovering very well. I have been home taking care of the other three kids, so I will be happy to see her again. I just have to be careful that I do not hug her too hard. The nurses say she can be discharged as soon as noon, but I have learned from our previous hospital visits that discharge usually takes the longest for some reason and is often delayed.
emily's health,
