Jack answered my question

I got this in my e-mail to answer my previous question about Michigan primaries":

from: Bucca
subject: From Jack Lessenberry
Michigan's primary for all other offices happens on the first Tuesday in August and has for many, many years -- it is in the state constitution and can't easily be changed. The political parties don't allow presidential primaries after June; sometimes they have had their conventions as early as July, so that wouldn't have worked.

It is quite satisfying to actually get an answer to one's question when asked, even if it comes two days later.

npr, news
