Gingerbread was Nadia's favorite.
He used to bake her cookies each week. He used to like making it; sometimes he put honey in those cookies, too, or sometimes spices. Sometimes it wasn't cookies but just what was called pain d'epiches when he lived in Paris; he used to add nuts to it, and raisins, and whatever else passed through his head which could make each recipe special. He enjoyed it a lot, not only because it pleased her but also because it please him, because it was a normal thing, because he still remembers fondly the times he used to do it for a living even if they came to an abrupt end (as usual, he thinks lately

Thank you so much! Heee, it totally made me feel hungry too while writing it. *sends you virtual gingerbread* I'm so happy that you liked it! I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it but if I get any occasion to make things less bleak for Sayid I need to take it. Thanks again! ♥

Awwwwwwwwwww ... this is too lovely. I seriously teared up reading it; I love that Sayid finds some kind of redemption/acceptance with Penny and Desmond, and the gentleness between the two of them. So perfect and sweet. :D

Oh, thank you so much! I don't know where it came from but when I had the idea I had to go with it, so glad it worked for you! *passes tissue* Thanks again! ♥

This makes me want to cry. (In an utterly fabulous way) You can feel how broken Sayid's heart is in this fic. I love that he (reluctantly) offers to help Penny make cookies for Charlie. Poor Sayid. I was never a huge fan of his but I couldn't help but love him in your fic.

Oh wow, thank you so much. You really flatter me and this totally made my evening. I'm so really glad you liked it, especially if Sayid isn't your thing usually. Thank you so so much!!♥ ♥

I just adored, adored this. This was such a wonderful glimpse into Sayid's grief and displacement. It offered hope that he could see gingerbread differently by the end. Hugs to you and Sayid! What a brilliant take on the prompt.

Oh wow, thank you so much really. I don't know how I ended up being so angsty with gingerbread as a prompt but when I got the idea I just had to go with it. And I need the guy to have his partial glimpse of happiness really. Thanks again! ♥

Great work, I really loved it! The first part is devastating, but the second one is really awesome and also kind of hopeful. You've done a fabulous job here, Janie! :)

Oh, thanks so much! Well, it sounds foreign indeed but when you think about it he's the only one who ever cooked for a profession in canon, which is why it ended up being him. ;) Thanks again!
