Oh, I didn't enjoy it, I adored it! I loved delving into this domestic world of Desmond and Penny which on its own was delightfully normal and slightly askew. The details about worries about money and nursery yet to be filled were quite realistic for any couple, but given this couples' history, it seemed particularly poignant. Oh Daniel...the old friend, the child, the hummingbird and the constant. You did such a wonderful job on his twitchy, closed persona. I was fascinated by his different interactions with Desmond and Penny. I completely bought Desmond's instinct being to care for him, and reject him for what his intrusion represented. I also had to giggle, maybe just as much as Desmond and Penny, about 'Charles Widmore - PhD in World Domination and a scholarship student to boot' joke! The ending revelation was just lovely. Thank you so much for writing this. It was wonderful.

I'm so glad to hear that, thank you! "Closed" is a great descriptor for Daniel; I'm always kind of wary of writing him (though I always want to try) because like Desmond I'll catch myself thinking of him as this entirely childlike figure.

Glad you liked the Widmore joke, too. :D

This is sweet...and sad. I love the mystery of it, how Daniel got there, where he's gone. I think this story illustrates what's so incredible about the show, how much there is going on that's open to interpretation, so much that we don't know. You've conveyed the isolation that Penny and Des are experiencing, yet they seem to be happy to just be with each other. And Penny saying that Daniel was in love with Desmond... *smile*

Thank you! I'm glad the mystery worked, because honestly, it's hard for me to figure out getting off the Island logistics, heh. And the ending was really the first idea I had, Penny telling Desmond that Daniel was in love with him and Desmond not knowing if she's misinterpreting something or not. Thanks for reading!

Your Daniel voice is really fantastic, and your portrayal of Desmond and Penny's relationship was really wonderful and real. Such great work! :)

Thank you so much! I love writing Daniel, though I never write from his POV. He seems like the type of guy other people would project a lot of things onto, so it's fun to interpret him through other characters. Thanks for reading!

Lovely story! I adore Daniel the hummingbird - what a very apt metaphor for him. And the wind blowing him in and then away. The ending brought a lump to my throat. Wonderful voices for all three.

Thank you so much! I wrote this fic when my life was in mini-turmoil, and I was missing the hummingbirds I see regularly at my apartment, so there you have it. :)

awww. this was so sweet.
I love how peaceful and mysterious at the same time you made their life with Daniel's sudden appearance.
And of course Daniel is in love with Desmond. :)

I loved your characterization of everyone, but Daniel's was so endearing... with all his half-questions and hesitations.
Very well done, and moving, with Daniel risking to vanish if he didn't see Desmond, and the hummingbird.
I really loved this.
