update
as i haven't been using this much, a fair amount has happened this year. starting in may, i was in the hospital for a few days. i went in with a bp of 274/150 at the time of admissiom. i was told repeatedly that they were suprised i was still breathing and hadn't stroked out yet. well, it finally killed off the last of my kidney function so i am now required to go into dialysis 3 times a week. this is when i am happy i paid more for the slightly less crapp insurence through work as the treatments would normally cost 3500 per time. blue cross is covering most of it and i am talking with them about the medicare hassle while they still have their open enrolment time frame. its not so bad, i have been doing fairly well, and within their standards. my blood tests have come within their set ranges so i guess i am doing good. my room mate remarked earlier in the week that she thinks they are flollowing the diet more strictly than what i am. they probably are for the most part, but i know i am still doing good and watching my fluids as well as the amounts of salt and other crap that gets put into my body. i have managed to deal with it so far.
i am hoping by the end of tuesday that i should be having this cathater out as she is harping about how bad of a source of infection it is. she can go off all she likes, i have been very careful with it and made sure to keep it dry. i have been more concerned about something going wrong with the fistual in my arm than an infection. i will be talking with the nurses there to make sure that, even with the swelling and brusing, that there is nothing out of the ordinary with it and its safe enough to be used.
