We started watching Tensou Sentai Goseiger this week. We finished off watching Maho Sentai Magiranger a week ago, caught up on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger last week, and will watch the end of it after we get a hold of the last episode. Then back to Gosaiger. Hm, after two episodes, I think I like GoseiPink. (And not too surprisingly, I like GoseiRed. A??? Names are not my strong point.)
We're also watching Kamen Rider Kiva, and are over halfway thru the series. It's pretty good. We're getting story twists and tugging on the heartstrings.
We've also been watchin Oran High School Host Club Live - the live version of an anime. When we started watching Gosaiger, I realised one of the actors in it also played GosieRed. Small world, it seems :-)
OHSHC live is interesting in that the series uses manga-style special effects with the live actors. I can't think of anything U.S. made that does that, with the possible exception of the Spider Man skits on the Electric Company (old educational public TV show.) I don't think the special effects would fly here, but they seem to be fine for Japan - after all they are manga/anime based special effects and tokusatsu shows will use styization over strict realism. (And think of how much clean up is saved with not using lots of fake blood.)
I don't think I've watched this much tv with live actors (as opposed to anime) in years!
