August Book List:
The Conspiracy Club
I've been pretty bad about reading lately :P
Tomorrow is fence estimate day. I'm hoping the fence can be put up soon, guess it depends on his schedule.
I've already been accused of being the 'cranky old neighbor' because of wanting to put up a fence, but there's a difference between the kids next door playing in my front yard (honestly, don't care) & kids-teenagers using my backyard as their personal sidewalk. One even walked through while my mom & I were back there staining the deck last weekend. !!! I swear, kids are NO LONGER taught respect for others' property!
Fitness room is still not done :(
I've now run out of paint...& pretty sure I've now applied FIVE coats of paint on the bottom & 3 coats on the top. The bottom still needs another coat. *sigh*
We got our year-end bonus a few weeks ago. GREAT to have money again, but it depresses me sometimes when I see Ryan getting to "blow" his on fun things while I have to use most of mine toward the house. Still, I have to remember, I own a house, & that is substantial - no matter what the economy says. I DID spend a little blow money though. 46" LCD TV :D! It almost looks too big for my living room now. HDTV is great.
October is a 3-paycheck month & since the bonus caught me up on a few things, I will get to have some fun. Diana (+ hubby & teenager) & I are planning on going to Six Flags Atlanta either mid or end of October. Ryan is getting a series of shots/injections & he is either having it the weekend we leave or the weekend before we go. I've told him I don't feel comfortable with him going because of his back & he hasn't seemed to mind, especially since he doesn't have extra vacation days to go. But, we have discussed him coming for the Sat/Sun & we can go to the Zoo/Aquarium/Coca-Cola Museum. Guess we'll see. I'm looking forward to it. Other than my LA trip (April) & our trip to Oklahoma (June), I've not been anywhere. I mean, that still sounds like a lot of trips, I guess, but I've only used 7 vacation days. I still have 3 vacation days left & 6 personal/sick days. PERSONALLY, I'm SICK of going to work...so I may take a day off work next week, haha.
OH! The big news of the week? I GOT HIT IN THE FACE PLAYING SOFTBALL!
I've found it all fairly amusing on a number of levels. I had a feeling that night I would get hurt. Hurray for self-fulfilling prophesy?
I was playing 1st base & a left-handed batter came up, smacked it right at me (grounder), I thought I had the ball till it bounced up, smacked my glove, & headed straight for my eye socket. Thankfully, the bone sticks out to protect your eye, so voila - I am hit, it hurts, I go down. Ryan happened to attend this set of games & it scared the crap out of him. I cried a bit, but I was ok. They offered to move me outfield, but I felt fine. Go figure the next batter was left-handed as well...& hit it at me again. I got that one out though ;) This was Tuesday. Wednesday? No bruising. Thursday? BRUISE! Today, the bruise has fallen lower, so now it looks like, as a co-worker pointed out, I didn't get a good night's rest & have bags under my eyes :P Eh, with sports comes injury. I'll live.
Well, I'm going to be lame & go to bed. I'm quite exhausted. Going to bed, watch a little tv & zonk out...especially since I have to get up early to meet with the fence guy. nashvillejo over & out.
