I meant to post something again before now, but I seem to have gotten distracted with all the Trump administration news as of late. Inaugurated on Friday 20, he, Bannon, and the rest of his administration have managed to destroy all the things. OK, not all of them, but they've been busy planting the seeds of ruin with executive orders of all types. The latest - over the weekend - involves preventing foreigners, legally visaed, and in some cases citizens from re-entering the country. Oh, and that Bannon guy has really been stirring the pot as well with his paranoid, white supremacist ideas, which have
long been part of his modus operandi. Now there is news that Trump has hit
majority disapproval in record time. And then there are the truly dark suppositions that to a certain degree make sense: that the administration is intentionally trying to bring about dark changes to the United States, changes that align with their beliefs. (

It's been a while, but I took to Twitter again last night. I used to be a fairly regular user of the micro-blogging service, but the feeling of "I'm getting something out of it" waned. (I primarily used it for my freelance business and to stay knowledgeable of industry trends.) But when it comes to political protest and rapidly sending current events out, it's still tough to beat Twitter for that. Many "alt" accounts have been created by members of U.S. government employees, particularly after a social media blackout imposed by Trump. So I'm following those now, and many of the people I'm currently following also have their opinions. With Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook as options, it's a bit much. But then again, so is what this administration is doing.
However, staying informed using multiple reputable sources, at a minimum, is necessary. Times may get more uncomfortable, but while people like me who have more privilege than many are still capable, we have to stand up for those who don't have that privilege and are being mistreated. Right now its immigrants. Tomorrow it may be native-born Jews or blacks or women. This administration is seemingly intent on setting the current U.S. lifestyle on fire for the benefit of rich, white, Christian males. I find these efforts sad and unnecessarily vile to humanity, which, as a whole, I believe wants to continue to find ways to live together despite its numerous differences.
