...way to get lost in mexico?!

Jun 20, 2003 16:54

so...we decide we're gonna go to knotts soak city right? it's in this city, it's the last city in california before the mexican border. So we're driving there using the directions we got from some on-line cite. we're looking for the "otay" exit....well...it never comes and the next thing we know their's a sign...it reads "last usa exit" and has an arrow right. Next to it is a sign that reads "mexican border" and points straight. Well kariana ( the driver) starts turning right and wondering how we missed our exit and the next thing you know brianna yells "GO STRAIGHT!" so...what does kariana do but turn the wheel at the last second barely miss the curb and continue straight. So we get to the border and explain what happened to the police officer. He tells us to follow the cars straight and then make a U turn. So we do follow the cars.....and end up on a ramp. well...we somehow find our way off...not that we actually understood where we were going the signs were in spainish. SO...we're driving in the middle of the streets of Tijuana which practically has a giant "rapes 'r' us" sign. At this point we're drantically dialing our cell phones and hearing some pleasnt celly-phone voice...in spainish neglecting our ability to reach san diego numbers. So we're yelling out the window at random pedestrians, asking if any of them speak english. This one woman says a litte. So we ask her how to go back. She tells us something in spainish and all we understand is down 2, left, many cars. SO we try going down two and right...get even more lost and as we're turning this corner to go back to the street we were on we see an officer on a mountian bike. So we pull up to him and ask what to do. He tells us to continue down the road and go right, that we'll see the ramp and head back to the border. We do so and make it to the border. Their was intense traffic and these women asking for church donations give us a little piece of paper entirely in spainish and thankt us...speaking perfect english ( figures...we'd find people who speak english when we're not lost anymore) so we pull up to the guy in the booth and he asks why we were in mexico and we explain ourselves and he gives us directions to knotts soak city and lets us go, without even checking for our passports or anything which is good considering none of us had any. Well...we spent the hour in mexico and made it back in time to go to soak city and be back home in time for karianas work. nevertheless it was quite the adventure.
