Today I sampled my 265th beer (Dogfish Head's Festina Peche). That averages to about 35 beers a month, which wasn't the reality at all! The big NZ push in January (50 beers in 2 weeks!) really gave me a leg-up. In fact, there were only 3 months in which I sampled a beer for every day - Jan, Feb and June. The slowest month was May - only 18 beers, but 15 of those were new for me. Not surprisingly, I tried the most new beers in January (67). I slacked off the most in March, when only 38% were new. Currently, 66% of the beers I had this year are new. I'll post the beer lists soon.
Only 100 more to go. Some sampling I have planned:
* Brooklyn Brewery beer and cheese pairing (and other DC Beer Week events)
* flights at Dogfish Head, Gordon Biersch and Capital City
* District Chophouse (some day when I'm not at all hungry!)
* some southern beers while in South Carolina
Tentative trips
* NYC Beer Week in Sept
* beer tour of Scotland in Nov
Upcoming home brews:
* Just bottled: mild English ale - a remake of our old version sans lactose. We tried golden syrup this time.
* In the fermenter: very hoppy IPA - 7 oz of hops! Oh my!
* Next on the list: weizenbock - will be great for autumn and winter when it's at its peak
