(no subject)

This week I finally did something I have wanted to do since I was but a wee lad.  I built a siege weapon.  I have previously tried to do this, once in boy scouts and a couple of backyard efforts.  None of which have been successful.  Fruit has been flung but mere feet from the weapon.  Arms have proven more effective at pelting opponents with tomatoes.

However, with the aid of an engineering degree, an artist, and some poorly photocopied plans of a scale model, I managed to build a trebuchet.

Now, I have no idea if this thing will actually work, but by my reckoning, it should.  It is getting used in a medieval war re-actment this weekend.  I suspect that the fine tuning required to actually hit a target will not be done, but that's not my problem.  I will get it back, take it up a friend's house, which has a golf-come-weapons range in the backyard, and see how far we can throw amusing objects.  Beer will be an integral part of the range finding exercise.

Still haven't come up with a good name yet.  Tossiroc is the current front runner.  I also like The Volitant Porcine. (Look it up people).

Wadda ya reckon?

Don't worry, we will video tape the launching of various things, and post them on Youtube.

Folks, I have a dream.
