Well, today has been kind of interesting. I had to go to the doctor for my follow up about my thyroid medicine. The whole thing went fine until I had to get my blood test. It was terrible. In case you don't already know, I have a HUGE HUGE HUGE fear of needles. I absolutely HATE them. I get extremely shakey just thinking about having to get a needle stuck in me. Okay, but anyways, on with the story. So, I get in the little room down the hall from my other room that I had been in the whole time. I'm standing by the door waiting for the older man who had just got blood taken to leave so that I could get it over with. As he is leaving, he thanks her. She then turns around and looks at him and says "No, thank you for being so patient." So immediately I start thinking, "Oh my God!! This woman is new, and she isn't very experienced. I don't think I am going to like this at all." So, I get in and sit in the chair. She puts on a new pair of gloves and gets everything ready. Then she tries to find the vein in my left arm, she can't really find it. So she switches arms and immediately finds the vein in that arm because it sticks up and you can see it perfectly. So, I calm down a little bit and stop shaking so bad, but I'm still shaking pretty bad. She preps my arm and sticks in the needle. I'm obviously not comfortable at all, I had a damn needle in my arm. I finally get up the nerve to look at it. As I looked I knew something was not right..no blood was coming out of it. So, she starts to move the needle in a little further, and then further, and then even further. Another nurse who is more experienced is in the room. So she calls her over and she asks her for a little help to get the blood to start coming out. At this point, I'm feeling pretty woosey. The room is spinning and I feel like I am going to throw up. She asks me how I'm feeling and all I can really say is "woosey."
The next thing I know, the nurse who had come to help the first nurse is in front of me, fanning me with some file folder thing and asking me if I am okay. I had no idea what was going on. All I remembered was that I had just had a dream about something, who knows what..I can't remember, and now I was back in that little room with the now three nurses. So after I figure out that I had fainted, and I regain my compsure they take me back to the room I started off in and make me lay down. They put a cold rag on my forehead and I am still pretty confused. After the nurse left for a moment I asked my dad what had happened. He told me that I just kind of slumped in the chair. So after a little while, another nurse came in and took blood out of my left arm and had no trouble with it, thank God! She let me lay there as long as I needed to and then I left. My dad let me get food before I had to go into work to watch a bunch of 1 year old children.
I worked an 8 hour day today after that whole incident. Now I'm at home and just minutes ago, I heard some HUGE HUGE HUGE news. But I can't say anything yet. But, OMG!! YAY!! HEHE
Much love,
Edye
