So...

I didn't get the house. I climbed all the way to number 2 on the list, but in the end number 1 accepted it. *has a sad*
So, to cheer myself up, I watched THIS for what may or may not have been the hundredth time. *sings loudly and obnoxiously*

Speaking of which: what is it with my fandoms these days? Everyone just seems to be in mourning.
Over in my newly discovered Supernatural fandom, people are lamenting the loss of Sam, because even though he's still around and played by the same actor, he's not really SAM anymore since he lost his soul, because now he's emotionless and kinda evil. And don't even get me started about Merlin and the whole Morgana debacle. Hey, maybe she lost her soul, too! Maybe she spent that year she was missing in The Cage with Lucifer and Sam, and Morgause is really Crowley in disguise, and Morgana has to capture Merlin (him being the Alpha Wizard) to get her soul back! You guys, I just figured it out! Both series will wrap up their season with a crossover extravaganza!
... what? It could totally happen.

Seriously, though, I really enjoyed this Saturday's Merlin, even if I wasn't wholly satisfied by the gigantic plot hole they left unexplained.

LIKED:
- Old!Merlin was hee-la-ri-ous! Colin was clearly having a whale of a time. Bless!
- The coronation dream sequence at the beginning was so beautiful, and Gwen's dress was stunning! I was so happy for Angel, she finally got to wear the pretty frock for a change!
- Katie had two new dresses, too, and looked stunning in both. In fact, despite the deep loathing I have developed for her character, she looked especially gorgeous in this episode. *major girl-crush*
- All the Arthur/Gwen stuff! I am in that tiny minority of the fandom that actually ships them, and I just want to squish Arthur whenever he shows his vulnerable side.
- Arthur's throwaway remark about how his perfect life would be on a farm in the countryside... with Merlin! Ahahahaha!
- The main cast actually had equally important roles in the story, which has got to be a first for this show.

DISLIKED:
- Aforementioned Giant Plot Hole. Arthur never doubted that his love for Gwen was real and not induced by magic. So when a random sorcerer that he sort of recognises conveniently confesses to a crime Arthur KNOWS hasn't actually been committed BY ANYONE AT ALL, Arthur cheerfully walks him to the execution block? I'm sorry, but I don't buy that. He should at least have asked Old!Merlin why he was helping him and Gwen, because it was quite obvious that he was. And the recognition of Merlin's eyes, and the fact that Merlin actually shouted to his face about mistreating his servants? Come on. Even Arthur's not that thick. I so expected him to get it, and be okay with it because Merlin did it to save him and Gwen. But he never did, and didn't even wonder. That just sucks.
- Speaking of things that suck: why hello there, Evil!Morgana's character assassination. I was sooo pissed at her sudden and inexplicable hatred of Gwen. Hey, Morgana, remember that first time you tried to kill Uther, it was because he had hurt Gwen? Yeah. Those were the days. PS: Eat dirt and die.
- As I mentioned before: I do ship Arthur/Gwen but man, that kiss in the picnic glade was damn well near painful to watch, it was so awkward.

My Fic Of The Week this time is Very Good, Boyd by apple-pi, because it cheers me up as much as the video linked above does. :)
The Story: Inspired by P.G. Wodehouse's brilliant satirical 1930s-set book series about a deeply stupid rich playboy who constantly requires rescue from perilous social disasters by his fiercely intelligent butler, this casts Dom as the former and Billy as the latter, and a mass of other LOTR actors in hilarious supporting roles.
The Love: This story is a joy to read even if you haven't read the original books (and... why on earth not? Go read them!). The author manages to catch Wodehouse's tone perfectly, and though all characters can effortlessly be matched to their counterparts in his books, she does give them their own personalities as well. The fic manages to be as laugh-out-loud funny as the books are, which is a rare feat. And the added slash is just the cherry on top. ;)
