Here I am, innocently taking the newspaper out of the mail box and the first headline that greets me is "9,5 MILLION GERMANS DRINK TOO MUCH"
I mean.... LOL... 9,5 Million people, that's more than Finland has inhabitants XD
But come to think of it, I guess alcohol really is quite a problem here - after all I went to my first drinking parties when I was 14 and I'm kind of part of the upper middle class where-kids-do-not-do-bad-thing-but-learn-to-play-the-piano-and-how-to-make-conversation. Where children are spoiled and sheltered. That didn't keep us away from everything but probably from a lot more than I was aware of back then.
People above 15 (!!!) drink 12 liters of pure alcohol a year on average the study says.
XD no suprise, that we always beat the American exchange students at drinking games... Even the ones of us who apparently don't drink much (like me) are so used to drinking that kids who're not allowed to drink before 21 can't stand a chance against us.
It's really quite pathetic that humanity fucks itself over in such lame ways. Every year 74 000 people die of the consequence of too much alcohol here in Germany. Liver cirrhosis, brain damage, heart diseases, all sorts of cancer. Nice way to go.
I really should go back to only reading the weather, the horoscope and the "cold page". It's probably bad for my blood pressure.
I need a beer.
