Reinventing Public Space...

To the man who leaned on his horn and yelled at me while I road my bike home on one of DC's busier streets: thank you. While I initially thought that your honking and waving to the broken street on my right was an indication that you wanted me out of the road, I clearly misunderstood that you were simply trying to get my attention and give me a hearty warning! Additionally, when I passed by you in your car, I thank you for attempting to give me some refreshment on such a hot day with your saliva. Unfortunately, I have never found spit terribly thirst-quenching and additionally, while you exclaimed 'Ha, got you!', you did not, in fact, get me and thus your precious fluids were wasted. If only all DC drivers were as kind as this man...to think most of them simply pass by me in silence or with only the occasional honk. Of course, there was the taxi that threw me onto his windshield a couple of months ago, totaling my bike in the process, but there had to be some sort of good intentions there. Or something...
wish me luck in seattle...
