using that as a baseline, let's do an election night scenario....
now, since nevada, virginia, and colorado are all polling in the obama +7/+8 range, let's assume they're pretty safe and that he's gonna win those. besides, mccain has pretty much conceded colorado, and the republicans have been sounding warning bells in nevada and virginia.
next, all the traditional battleground states of florida, ohio, and pennsylvania, where mccain has been spending a lot of time and resources, let's be generous and give to the republicans, even though obama is currently well ahead in pennsylvania, and ahead by smaller but still significant margins in florida and ohio. and let's give the current tossups of indiana, missouri, and north carolina to mccain as well.
now, if all those states turn red, john mccain has had a very good night. however, it's still not good enough.
