you know what upsets me?
When people are getting married for money that the military offers them. Jim and I have been talking about it and we don't want to be married for anything other than the love we have for each other...we are going to wait until we are ready for that commitment and it won't even be until he is out of the Navy at the earilest.
Then I come across my friend's myspace tonight.. I know tomorrow she is getting married to this guy in the Army. They are only 18 and 19 this year, which is pretty young. He has been in the service for only 5 months. 3 months for bootcamp and 3 on an actual base. Now, being best friends with Jim for all of JR and SR high, I have obviously beent here for him in the months preparing to leave for bootcamp and all the time since then. I know how much it sucks to not be with them and hangout, call them, etc. It really does. But he is in the Navy to serve our country. He is working hard to help our country for us. He doesn't enjoy 24hr watches, a rack on the ship that is 6ft long and 2ft in height to sleep in everynight while out to sea for months on end. But he is proud to do what he is doing and even though there are hard times and struggles being away from home and no longer being a civilian, he never regrets signing that contract. I am proud of him and all of the other friends I know whom are in the Navy, Army, Marines, Airforce, and Coast Guard. There are at least 10 guys alone from Jim's senior class in high school that left for the military to protect our country, knowing they were putting their lives out there. I pray for them to all be safe and to come home soon.
BUT!!!!!!!!! I am furious that this girl is getting married because of money. She doesn't want to work, he isn't the brightest, he didn't know what to do in life so he sign a contract for the Army. Then he proposed because of the BHS benefits that come with being married. OK. So do whatever you want even though you are both young and naive. What gets to me is that in BOTH of their profiles it repeats numberous times how much they hate the Army and how it's a shithole, etc. His countdown in his profile actually says, " time left until I'm free from the gayest job ever."
Newsflash: YOU SIGNED UP FOR THIS LIFE! JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE A FUCKING BABY THAT HAD NOTHING GOING FOR YOUR FUTURE DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO DISRESPECT THE MILITARY AND SPEAK OF IT THE WAY YOU DO. BHS SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO PEOPLE THAT ARE SOULY LOOKING TO GET SOME EXTRA CASH. IT'S FOR FAMILIES IN THE SERVICE THAT ARE OUT FIGHTING TO KEEP AMERICA FREE. I THINK IT'S COMPLETE BULLSHI HOW YOU CAN SIT THRE AND SAY WHAT A JOKE THE ARMY IS AND HOW IT'S MAKING YOU MISERABLE, ALL THE WHILE YOU ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO TAKE MONEY FROM IT.
I am just so enraged at the moment. I have the up most respect for everyone willing to put themselves on the line for our freedom. I may not agree with the government, Bush, or the war, but I fully support our troops and I think you are a peice of shit if you have the audacity to down talk our men and women whom are dying for us while you camp out in fucking Africa in an area where you aren't even in danger.
