I want to share with you a story I've been reading. It's a nonfiction book called Whatever It Takes by Paul Tough. It tells the story of Geoffrey Canada's Harlem School Zone. I was first drawn to this story when the Harlem School Zone was featured on This American Life in their episode called "Going Big."
So far, I've only read the first three chapters, but the book has helped me explore the following two questions: What makes poor people poor? What can I do to make sure my child succeeds? (If I ever have one).
