Life Remains Interesting, Dammit

Sky has less than 30 days of work left. We suspected his contract at Fort Stewart wouldn't renew, but now he'd gotten the 30 days notice and its official. He's been job shopping a few weeks now but no responses. Looking in Savannah, but also in any nearby-ish (what he calls "in driving range" many wouldn't) area where he could move to work and we'd still be able to visit on the weekends.
And then theres Cincinnati.
Because of previous efforts, he is currently accepted to one of the community colleges attached to U of Cincin, and has a Pell grant and minor scholarship that should cover most of his school expenses for one year. Also in Cincin is a dad who charges less for rent than any apartment (it only took e a few onths to convince hi that this was true. His paternal relationship is...wierd). We figure he only needs to make about $500 a month to break even up there, something far easier done where the minimum wage is a bit higher, though i have my reservations regarding how easy he thinks it will be.

Because of registration and orientation, he's got about a week to decide if he's going to put in a two weeks at work and move north for school. I've told him he could wait until winter quarter and thus at least finish the contract through and have that one or two extra pay checks, but i know he doesn't like the idea. Due to his income this year we expect next year's pell grant to be much smaller, and he argues getting the extra quarter's worth of nearly-free classes while he can. I suspect the stronger reason is that he doesn't like waiting once a hard decision has been made. He feels that, if he's going to move back north and go to school, better to do it Now instead of having to wait until Then.

As for me, the rent is paid through June, so i fully intend to sit tight. If Sky moves out, i expect general bills to drop enough that i can still accomodate them, especially since my increased time at classes will mean the A/C staying much lower for greater parts of the day, and me eating SCAD food more often (yay for meal plans!). Right now i'm making a bit over $300 every two weeks at the theater, and though it'll drop a bit for school hours i believe i'll still be averaging $100 a week. I know who to call if i get in troubles.
We've discussed (rather level-headedly, i'm pleasently surprised to say) what happens to the relationship should he ove out, and the consensus is that it basically goes on hiatus. We are mutually free to be interested in other people. Should i graduate and the time come when we could live together again, and nothing has really changed about how we feel, then back together we go. We've proised to to call eachother "ex-" until we're both quite sure its peranent.

Of course all this pivots on one very large decisions, and the assumption that a very decent job offer isn't ringing in his phone as I type.
I can hope!
