[If you pass by a certain house today, you're certain to notice the smell of baking. It wafts through an open window, through which you can also hear the sound of cheerful humming, occasionally punctuated by long pauses and murmured words along that lines of, "Now what was I doing

[Fenimore had been out when Grune had started that baking adventure, so when she returned to the smell of baking, she assumed that it was Shirley, too. Upon opening the door, she calls out:] What are you making, Shir--?

[xelhes]

[The l dies on her lips as she actually catches sight of the kitchen.] ...Grune? [You can bake?]

Hello, Fenimore. How are you? [Sort of? If you don't mind every second batch being burned.]

[xelhes]

[Given that Fenimore's experience with Grune accomplishing tasks--that is, watching Grune get sent off on an errand and predictably forgetting about it--even that much seems like a miracle. But, then again, she doesn't really know very much about Grune, so she's not really in a position to judge her competancy.]

Ah...I'm fine. How are you? ...But why am I asking? It's always the same answer.

[lostinmyway]

Would you like a biscuit? [She offers a plate. You might want to pick one of the ones that aren't burnt, Fenimore.]

[xelhes]

Um. [She gives them a bit of a nervous look. She can't help but suspect that the ones that aren't burnt are just hiding different problems. Can't you just feel her faith in Grune's abilities to accomplish basic tasks? But she takes one.] I guess so.

[She gives it a look before taking a bite. To her surprise:] These are actually...okay! [Well, they're better than that, but, at the moment, the rather excessively suspicious Fenimore is pleasantly surprised that they even reached that point.]

[lostinmyway]

Thank you, Fenimore. [She doesn't notice Fenimore's complete lack of faith, of course.]

[xelhes]

[After finishing that one:] Then...may I have another one? [Other than the burned ones.]

[lostinmyway]

Of course.

[xelhes]

Thanks. [She carefully selects another one.

And this seems as good a time to ask as ever:] Why don't you come back here every night? Do you have somewhere else you're staying? [...She doesn't entirely expect a useful response.]

[lostinmyway]

Don't I come back here every night? [No, Grune, you don't.]

[xelhes]

So you don't even remember. [A sigh.]

Then it'd be useless to ask you where you go instead.

[lostinmyway]

It's a very nice place. [Does this mean she actually remembers?]

[xelhes]

--Eh? But you just said you didn't remember....

[lostinmyway]

Oh, I remember.

[xelhes]

... [...Sigh, Grune.] Then, where is it that you go?
