[Walter woke up to an unfamiliar ceiling.

...At least, he thought it was a ceiling. Instinctively wary of sudden changes to his surroundings, Walter sat up and began scooting his way off of the unfamiliar, warm mattress. His wings shudder as they scrape against the strange textures, and he uneasily looks around the rest of his room.

His normal bed has been replaced by a four-post bed of some kind, and his room ... showed no signs of anything having been moved. (Not that he had a lot to begin with.) He starts getting dressed, already in loose pants and his Ferines shirt when he becomes aware of a rustling sound.

And he dives out of his room just as his bed jumps after him.]

What the hell?!

[...Fortunately, the mimic bed can't get through the narrow door frame, so he's given a chance to recover.]

[action] since Walter is unlikely to go rescue Grune on his own, time to get Fenimore to goad him xelhes July 30 2011, 03:16:08 UTC
[But not for long, as a scream can be heard from the other end of the house, as well as squawking from her pet peepit. She's been trying to get it to live outside more now that it was about half grown, but it has been sleeping overnight occasionally. Thankfully, one of those nights was last night, as it's there to keep the bed from being able to concentrate on Fenimore.

If he follows the scream through into Fenimore's room, he'll find that it doesn't look like her room anymore, but instead like a tunnel of the Crystal Forest. But his attention is probably better focused on the similar bed that Fenimore is attempting to escape as the peepit flaps and pecks at the thing.]

[action] goading Walter? oh my! filial_guardian July 31 2011, 01:40:59 UTC
[The scream has Walter back to his feet in seconds, and he gives the mimic bed a wary look before hurrying across the house and towards Fenimore's room. He pushes Fenimore's door open and openly stares at the familiar aspects of a part of the Legacy he hasn't seen in quite some time.

Then he's summoning forth his teriques, which takes on its zephyr form and slams into the offending monster.]

Fenimore! Get out of there!

[What do you think I've been trying to do? But she knows better than to grouse at the person saving her. Luckily enough, the force of the blow against the bed sends her tumbling off it. She lands and rolls, stopping just short of the edge of the tunnel.]

R...right! [Time to scramble, only partially standing, in Walter's direction. Her peepit, only about half-size still, squawks as though saying "so there" and hops after her. Its other targets on the run and no longer attacking it, the bed turns to the teriques to snap at it, though it might be a little slow.]

[Walter's teriques reels back as the mimic bed snaps at it, then rams into it again. Walter enters further into the transformed room to meet Fenimore and her peepit, beginning to cast a crystal eres spell; he's not gonna get a chance to attack if the monster turns its attention away from his teriques.]

Aqua Laser!

[Fenimore will just slip in behind him. She may not know how she or Walter wound up here, but she does know she doesn't want to get separated from him. He's very reliable in these kinds of circumstances. Meanwhile, Ques will just settle next to her, shake his head as though sneezing, and begin to settle his ruffled feathers back into place with his beak.

The Mimic Bed is less pleased by these developments. The ramming hurt and, before it could try to bite it again, it was being soaked. Well, also hurt, but the important part is that you just soaked its good sheets. :( It shakes itself like a dog ineffectively before turning towards Walter. ...But there's plenty of time for the teriques to slow it down before it gets to Wally.]

[If there's anything that Walter takes seriously, it's protecting his people. As the bed creature shakes itself off, Walter raises an arm and takes slow steps back, a silent order for Fenimore to start backing towards the exit. His teriques can only delay the mimic bed for so long, and Walter has to fire off another spell before considering making a break for it.]

Thunder Blade!

[action] wait no we still need you for grunt work xelhes August 5 2011, 03:20:10 UTC
[It takes her a second to catch on, but she will shortly start backing away about twice as fast as he is.

And...and that will do for distracting the Mimic Bed for a while. It collapses on itself for a moment, but it'll be up in a few seconds and angry.]

[action] grunt work? isn't that what that orerines is for? filial_guardian August 6 2011, 08:01:40 UTC
[Walter recalls his teriques as soon as the Thunder Blade spell hits, spinning on his heels and running for the door. He'll usher Fenimore ahead of him, trying to keep her moving ahead of him. Like hell they were going to get killed (again) by a monster bed.]

Run!

[action] get grune or norma to *work*? ahahahaha. though grune tries when given directions. xelhes August 7 2011, 01:28:01 UTC
[She'll do as best she can, even if this nightgown isn't exactly designed for running.]

Yeah, but run whe -- ? [She's cut short when the forest disappears as they pass through the suddenly visible doorway and she tumbles down the short stairs outside her room.] Ow!

[Meanwhile, the Mimic Bed in Fenimore's room gets stuck in the doorway -- though a little of it, particularly its sheet "tongue," sticks out, as it hadn't seen the doorway before running into it at full speed.]

[action] what about norma? no luck at all? filial_guardian August 10 2011, 17:26:11 UTC
[Walter hurries after Fenimore, glancing back at the monster just once before he makes it to the invisible exit. Maybe it was foolish to assume that the exit would still work, but fortunately everything worked out. He stops just outside of he door, startling slightly when the mimic bed hits him with its "tongue."

He kicks the trapped mimic bed before backing away, unable to close the door.]

What is going on...?

[action] hard to say, but I imagine it'd be difficult to get Norma to do anything she didn't want to xelhes August 16 2011, 21:56:52 UTC
[She picks herself up and attempts to get her nightgown in order. Ugh, there's a huge rip in it...though that's kind of a side issue. to this.]

Do you think I know? I was asleep and...what happened to my room? [...She'll remember to thank you for saving her life once the shock wears off.]

[action] ...useless Orerines. filial_guardian August 17 2011, 05:34:22 UTC
[He's already past his shock and right in the annoyed and confused state, so he glances at the mimic bed once more before stepping past Fenimore on the stairs.]

All I know is I woke up sleeping on the exact same thing. Disguised as a bed.

There's more of that thing? [She stares at it. ...She's never going to trust a bed ever aga --]

-- Walter, what about the others? [Though this realization has come a little late for some, as it seems Stella's bed has already left the building.]

[Walter tenses at Fenimore's second question, and he's already heading back towards Stella's room. (Of course he would go check on the other Ferines first.) He opens the door quickly, expecting something in there--]

She's gone.

[action] we can only hope. xelhes September 2 2011, 03:50:37 UTC
Gone? [She scurries up behind him -- though being very careful to stay behind him -- and peers around him. ...There's no bed, either. Bad sign.

...But it won't do any good to just stare.] Grune!

[And then she's...well, she starts by striding across the room towards Grune's door, but she slows down a lot as her caution catches up with her.]
