. . . said the title of the e-mail in my inbox. How does one refuse an invitation like that???
Seriously, turns out this girl Zamira that I shared a cab with from the airport/train station when I got back from break finally wrote me. I had told her that I wanted to meet other Peace Studies students, and I gave her my e-mail address. Peace studies people are cool because they're from all over the world and they all live in one house and study peace-related things for two years. I'm not sure exactly what peace-related things, but that's why I want to meet more of them. I met a guy from Uganda my first week here, then Zamira from Tajikistan, but that's about it.
Anyway, she had lost my e-mail address, but found it again just in time . . . they're having sumkaynduva get-together tomorrow. Weird thing is, I have a really bad memory for faces, and I forgot what Zamira looked like. I didn't want to enter some strange house and not know anyone. Luckily, it's very easy to stalk people in Notre Dame and I pulled her picture up on the net in no time. I also discovered that the one Filipina Peace Studies student she told me about was just one year ahead of me in Ateneo, and then went onto Ateneo Law School. So I'm sure we have some common acquaintances, at least. Hey Mix, did you ever join Tugon? If yes, kilala mo siguro siya.
So far all the people I've met here from the Philippines are from Ateneo. Except one undergrad, but he almost counts because he went to high school in Xavier. There's a girl in the Law School who went to undergrad in the U.S., but did high school in Poveda. Small world.
