Writer's Block: Listen to This
I would immediately tell them to listen to a rap/metal hybrid band known as Hollywood Undead, especially the song "This Love, This Hate". I would also suggest the Goth Techno styled group The Birthday Massacre, once again suggesting a song from them, this time "Blue".
Then, if the person was completely out of the loop, I'd suggest 30 Seconds to Mars, Within Temptation, Five Finger Death Punch, Anberlin, Armor for Sleep, The Medic Droid, and Nightwish.
For those of you who enjoy JRock, I highly recommend the band High and Mighty Color, especially the song "Ichirin no Hana"
