No pictures, I'm afraid, but several links instead. A quiet day in London.

We headed in to London central after breakfast. Decided to stay on the Picadilly line to St Pancras station. It was recently restored and several locals have told me it is amazing. They're right.  High Victorian gothic (or do I mean gothick?)  Its the station for the Eurostar and the promenade has lovely shops and cafes.  Pricey, but very nice.  We checked Hubby's suitcase, and wandered off to find The Wallace Collection.

The Wallace is like visiting an old friend. It's the only London museum we've "done" every time we come to London.  We visited our favourite corny painting:  The Temptation of St Hilarion (aka "the rudy lady" in our house).  She's called the rudy lady because I once promised a work colleague a postcard with a rudy lady on it.  I think he was imagining one of those ghastly breast-with-painted-on-humourous-faces, but I went one better.

The most interesting picture I saw, which I had failed to notice before, was An Allegory of True Love.  It has one of the few depictions of a woman's chemise in wear I've seen.  I tried to get a postcard, but you couldn't see a thing on a postcard.

There was a nursery school visiting the armour room.  As we walked in, a dozen excited 7 year olds were trying on armour and modern police riot gear, while the teacher tried to capture each child on his Blackberry.  They were totally adorable.  We were very glad to see them.  We would have taken a picture of that, but these days you don't like to take photos of children without the parents' permission.

Had a cider at a pub:  The Crown & Sceptre in Foley Street (no website).  Enjoyed the cider.  Enjoyed the (brief) sunshine.Off to Liverpool Street to get the train to Bury.  Splurged on cab from train station to Horringer.

Ah! Home safe.
