A summer evening stroll at Ickworth Park

St Mary's Church, Ickworth. Parts of it date back to the thirteenth century. The tower is an eighteenth century addition, topped with Victorian Medievalesque additions. This shot is a cropped panorama taken with my iPhone 5.

The same view, no panorama. A hot, hazy day in Suffolk.

A very Secret Garden moment… a door in a wall.

Inside the door is a wild meadow. Over the next few years the National Trust plans to restore the walled garden to what it would have been 100 years ago. Ambitious & delicious!

This is a beautiful oak trunk. There are lots of mature oak trees in the grounds of Ickworth, and they do play well with the summer evening light. My twin brother had a 'thing' for oak trees. I brought him in an oak leaf from the hospital gardens on the second-last day of his life. So this tree had me thinking of him even more than usual.
