It's 10.27pm, and the sky is still a bit light. Not quite as spectacular as
quatrefoil's experiences nearer the arctic circle, but still impressive. I've taken to wearing a sleep mask from about 4.30am, even with the blinds drawn.
A bit over a week after arrival, and I can't tell you what a difference all this daylight is making. Even with the days mostly overcast, the constant daylight is balm to me. Physically and mentally.
Today had Sunday lunch with friends Janice, Jean, Megan and Terry (I've listed them in alphabetical order). Age range from 18-80+, and 3 continents. Lots of laughter, delicious roast dinner, a charming country cafe beside an orchard (with chooks), and a glass - or two - of a nice prosecco. Great way to spend a couple of hours.
I can recommend
The Orchard Room at Harveys Garden Plants in Thurston for either lunch or morning/afternoon tea. It also rates highly over on
TripAdvisor.
