Tonight I was up later than usual. Blackett the cat came meowing into the living room (she's usually a very silent cat). Mr Host suggested that Timmy might be down a well, but it turned out she wanted me to come to bed and cuddle like a decent person. So I'm firmly under her paw. A time share cat is not the least part of why I like coming here.
Today I attended a concert at the church at Long Melford. Each Wednesday they do a 1 hour free concert (you are encouraged to donate to the Church restoration fund). Kate and I greatly enjoyed the flute and piano performance featuring flautist Julie Harmer. It was much better than i feared, being not much addicted to flute music unless very well played. The church was a perfect setting, especially after we were given a cushion.
Had a coffee with Kate at Monks Eleigh, aka Corn Craft, and discussed ways and means of getting my corn dollies home. Most of the designs, particularly the Celtric Cross I'm particularly enraptured by, have the corn grains still on. To cut them off would destroy the design. So it seems I'll have to pay for irradiation. Ah well. Needs must. The strong dollar almost makes up for that.
Dropped into the Bury Wednesday market for some good bread on the way home. Said hi to Veronica and Richard of Leaf House who were selling their fantastic soaps next door. Came home and practiced more crochet.
Saddened this week by an
incident at a local fair on Sunday. A horse doing horse & carriage rides was spooked and bolted into a crowd. Several people were injured and one poor woman was killed. The same company recently began operating a carriage tour of Bury which I was hoping to go on. It seems like it was just an unfortunate event - for the woman, the other injured, the Fair, the horse and the carriage operators. The OHS people have moved in and will no doubt tell us who to blame in due course. The people's court on the Daily Telegraph site is already having a field day in spite - or perhaps because - of the paucity of actual fact. Sigh.
