Checked iPhone again last night. Removing the sim card revealed a tiny drop of water.
Mr Host had been cooking in the oven, so once it was turned off, we kept checking it until the temperature went below 50'C, then I put the iPhone in it (lying on its bed of uncooked rice). We're aiming for gentle heat. That stayed in for about an hour, then went back (with the warm rice) into its plastic container. The container is now sunning itself beside me as I type on a glorious morning.
I have to clean the contacts on my SIM, because there appears to be a bit of discolouration (much nicer sound than "corrosion", although it may be that). I hope this is not inevitable.
Mr Arcadia thinks the unit is insured under our plan, but we're not sure if Optus will just let me buy a new phone over here. Perhaps Mr A. will have to post me a new SIM! I don't think I can go more than a month without my phone.
Had to get up early today to attend a work-related video conference. Realised that my alarm clock is my iPhone. Mrs & Mr Host got out her old (and now despised) Blackberry to use as an alarm clock. Naturally I woke up 30 minutes earlier than designated, because i don't actually trust alarm systems I haven't tested. A paranoia that has served me well over the years.
And its got my hoopy new French dictionary on it. And my iTunes! And my Camera! And my Expenses Tracker! And my Shopping List! And my photos of home! And a dozen books in case I lose my paperback! And Midomi, in case I hear and interesting piece of music and want to get it for myself (or at least find out what it's called). *whimper*
