Late summer in the woods & fields

This is my favourite arty-shot of the woods in the sunlight.  I don't know why the acute angle creates more the feeling of being there, but it does.  A lucky glance down as I was putting my iPhone away is the inspiration for this one.

Wildflowers beside the woods. We like wildflowers, they encourage rare insects.

A view of fields & hill through a gap in the hedgerow

Out of the woods, and its just rolling fields to the skyline.  Which contains a fourteenth century church tower which didn't come out on digital 'film'.

Some pretty berries - we think they're probably highly poisonous. But they do look lovely against the green foliage, don't they?

Wild poppies in the corn.  These are the result of a red poppy mating with a white poppy in a nearby clump - they are parti-coloured when you get up close.  Also smaller than their full-blooded relatives.  But very pretty.

The sunlight dappled to such good effect, I have my very Impressionist study!

A hot August afternoon - around here that means intermittent cloud, which also means reprieve from the really very hot sunshine.  And exciting cloud formations.  It didn't rain until after nightfall.

The hedges are full of brambles coming into fruit.  I particularly liked this spray, which has everything from flowers to near-ripe berries on it.  Needless to say, it's in a patch of woodland where the sun is very dappled.
