Don't fence with me, Kara.

I've got a fever and the only cure is more BSG?

This week's episode is Act of Contrition. The usual guidelines apply! Series-wide spoilers are likely in both questions and comments. For interested newbies, we could always arrange some white-texting for spoilers; all you need to do is let me know in advance.

Before I dip into the episode: it didn't even occur to me before the "To Be Continued" that we could've doubled up on this and the next. Anybody for doing two-parters all at once? Against it? I'm good with either.

This episode has little in the way of political efforts and headline decisions. It isn't without big fleet-wide problems -- I certainly call their pilot shortage one -- but it's one of the more intimate character stories we've had up to this point.

  • One of the first scenes is what seems to me to be our first glimpse of how Starbuck and Lee probably played off each other in the days when Zak was alive. In the miniseries Starbuck made the same confession to Lee that she finally makes to Bill in this episode. What do you think about how Lee has reacted to Starbuck's secret up to and including this episode? I do like that he approaches his father, although he only does it when Starbuck makes problems for him by dismissing all her new recruits. But considering how much blame Lee assigns to Bill in earlier episodes, I'm surprised and a bit disappointed by how little we get to see Starbuck's confession making any difference to him.

  • She's undeniably in the spotlight for this episode: what do you think about Starbuck?

  • Helo and Sharon on Caprica as they tracked down the signal: good fortune or total set-up? I took their discovery of that shelter as genuine good fortune the first time around and assumed that the Cylons were just tracking Sharon. On rewatch I thought the room they found just seemed like part of the Cylon plan.

  • As the new President of the Colonies (or what's left of them), faced with cancer you're told is inoperable and even advised to consider prayer, how do you choose to be treated? Are you telling people or keeping it a secret?

  • What was your favorite scene of this episode? I like a lot of this episode; it's tough to choose. I really like the scene between Laura and Cottle, but I'm equally as fond of the entire sequence that unfolds on Galactica while Starbuck is teaching maneuvers to the nuggets: from Starbuck actually sounding like a good instructor to Tigh being impressed to the intent reactions of Lee and especially Bill ("She'll make it," he says so firmly!) when Starbuck tries to take on all eight Raiders, it's a beauty.
