I really like Lee in this episode, too. It's one of his very best.

I will forever love him for assassinating the S4 quorum because their arguing scenes were horrendous to watch cracked me up. I did hate those scenes.

I think you're right that Chief says something about the work not being fit for civilians, but... yeah, what you said: it really just sounds like the prisoners were worth sacrificing. I still would've asked for civilian volunteers first.

Cally's ear-biting was definitely her defining moment. On the first watch, I thought the way she forgave Chief in season two's finale and what she told him about always caring for him might be character-defining, too. Up until that point I found it easy to believe she'd had a thing for him all along. I agree that they went too far with trying to make it clear that Nicky wasn't his child. Her character suffered for it when they made Chief a Cylon.

I'm a sucker for that Kara-Tigh scene; as much as I like both of them, I often think they deserve what they get when they give each other a hard time. (I liked the scene where he agreed with her for once, too.) I also really like that bit between Dee and Billy. Billy was pretty adorable in this episode, and I love Dee when she can take care of herself.
