Waxing nostalgic

My neice has learned to read, and is getting good at it. I think she just needs a little encouragement to get her into reading for enjoyment. No one else in my family likes reading, so she won't pick it up from them that's for sure. So I went to the bookstore yesterday afternoon to find something fun for her. I got two books that were huge favorites of mine as a little girl.

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing - this book is just plain stinking hilarious. This poor kid Peter has a little brother called Fudge, who is just a train wreck of a toddler. Man I loved this book.

Little House on the Prairie - oh and to make this one even better, it has the original illustrations I remember... but in color! I felt like jumping up and down when I saw the picture of Half-pint chasing the prairie dog!

I think I'm going to read them first before I give them to her. hahaha! I sure loved these books. I'm sure she'll like them too. They're both such classics.
