#724) DUSKLANDS, J.M. Coetzee- Two short stories that could not be more different yet somehow work well together. The first about an historian studying the violence in the Vietnam War and the psychological effects it has on him. The second about a South African explorer interacting with indigenous people with horrible results. Both stories are compelling and somewhat disturibing.

#726) TO THE NORTH, Elizabeth Bowen- Second Bowen book this week, and second that I have loved. Her writing is witty, gorgeous, engaging, poetic, philosophical, and outright entertaining. This novel involves two cousins, women, who live together after one becomes a widow, and the lives and loves that occur. Two of the greatest characters in English literation- Cecilia and Emmeline- with a truly unforgettable ending.

#727) THANK YOU, JEEVES, P.G. Wodehouse- Ignoring the racism and extended use of black face as a comedic device, this is a funny book. Wodehouse is a witty genius....but the racism. Ugh.
