My shots don't make philly look bad. Every city has a character. The thing that makes art art is the perspective of the artist. What parts of philly I choose to portray are up to me, otherwise I can pretend that the nasty parts don't exist, or don't bother me and take nice, clean, tidy boring pictures.

I dont prize or depict the urban decay anymore than I prize the comradery of philly's citizens (an extremely rare thing to witness in most parts).

Maybe I want to preserve the place in pictures before developers erase the character of our time and replace it with theirs.

I don't have anything against the city. I didnt make it the way it is. I didnt set up the scenes in my shots, I was just there and recorded them. Besides....Since you did me the honor of looking and commenting, lemme tell you something......people can see images of brothers hangin out, jokin, smilin and survivin and theyll think, "hey...life's rough but they can still laugh" and feel good...or people can see images of brothers sleeping in the street and think, "hey...maybe i should get off my ass and help someone out" or maybe...."i should appreciate what i have because shit could be worse - maybe i shouldnt want so much".

I don't have a preference of showing bad over good. It's the ability to drop that distinction that allows a person to depict life objectively...so that each and every person who sees their art gets something different out of it. Don't forget....not everyone is going to see things your way. that's enough preaching outta me.

Read what I'm about. Photography is a mirror cuz. Peace.
