I’m back from the most awesomistic spring break EVER. It started out going to Winston-Salem Friday night with Kristin and Anna. My mom had all this really delicious vegan food for us when we got in, it was the first of many delicious meals. The next day we met Christina up in Richmond, and partied out at toy stores and local coffee shops. That night we made vegan chocolate chip cookies. OH GOSH THE COOKIE DOUGH WAS SO WONDERFUL TO EAT! And it’s OK to eat uncooked too because it uses no animal products! O, O, O! And Christina has goats and Chickens!
Driving up to NYC the next day was wonderful because we listened to all sorts of good music, and mostly Le Tigre. Anna began the trip disliking Le Tigre, but I think by the end of the trip they had grown on her. Getting into the city… wow, wow, wow! We stayed at The Manhattan Club which was fabulous. On the subway, I learned to stand on my tipey toes while it was moving. Never really mastered the sitting thing though. Our first stop in NYC was Bluestockings, this brilliant feminist-type bookstore. All of us found books we loved in that store.
So Anna and I were definitely entertained by the idea that Christina and Kristin were our mothers. Christina kind of took Anna under her wing, and Kristin took me under hers. We had some good times at the Manhattan club. We all spooned, and Anna and I learned to rap (or rather attempted to learn to rap).
On the Tuesday of our trip my roomie and her sister (Catie and Maryanne) came up to visit from Connecticut. We had some great times that day, despite a big snow storm. Catie and her sister ended up staying over in NYC that night b/c the roads were so bad.
The last full day we went to see “Phantom of The Opera”. OH-MY-GOD!!!!!! IT WAS SO GOOD! I can’t even start to describe it… it was just so unbelievable. Everything was spectacular, the set, the vocals, the lightening, the music, the acting. The show was probably my favorite part of the whole trip.
The funny thing is that this journal entry hardly covers everything we did, I mean there was the boot shop, Christina’s piercing, Central Park and the ugly orange things, winning the 4$ lottery, and the Harlem Shuffle; the list just goes on and on, but I’ve got tons to do. I was very productive today (made a skirt, a scrapbook, and did my taxes), but I didn’t do any of my school work (bah.) I so wish break was longer! Humph!
