Well, my employers at the university want me to come in on Monday for a bit of a training session, apparently, and so I can know a little more about the labs and what sort of equipment they will be dealing with. I am kind of excited about it, actually. I really miss my work at home, and I know this will not really be all that similar, but it should ( Read more... )

That's good to hear! Good luck on your new job.

Hmm, I haven't heard of May Day before... What kind of festival is it?

Danke!

Ah, a festival to celebrate spring, mostly. There is a huge maypole in the town square that the children dance around, weaving ribbons around it. And then there is food and music and all of those sorts of things.

*smiles* That sounds like a lot of fun. It's a shame there aren't any festivals here like that.

Ja, there seems to be a definite lack in holidays here. It is kind of sad. ::chuckles::

Compared to how many your country has, yes. It must be nice to celebrate and relax so often...

Ja, it is. It just keeps people a bit more cheerful, I think. And it keeps the community close, too, because we can all come together so often and have a bit of fun.

There should be more festivals and things around here, too, for those exact reasons... Maybe we could try organizing one?

Ja, we should. ::smiles:: I was thinking of at least having some friends over for dinner or something, and you of course would be invited... I would be a bit hesitant to invite Alphonse as well, though, considering how easily conflict between him and Edward tends to escalate...

It would take a lot of organizing, but I'm sure we could do it. *smiles understandingly and nods* You don't have to invite Al if you don't want to. I'm sure he wouldn't mind since he isn't very fond of you or Edward.

It would certainly be worth the effort, ja. Ah, and good, then, I suppose. I think my brother may be coming, and Edward wanted to invite my brother's double as well. It just sounded like a nice idea.

Definitely. We should give it a try. *laughs* That's quite a few Edwards. Ah, and your brother has a double?

What do you think we should do? It would be fun if we could do a picnic sort of party, I think... Have everyone bring something... ::smiles:: Ja, there are quite a few of them now. And indeed he does, though... He is of questionable nature. ::chuckles:: But he is nice enough, I suppose.

That would be fun. We could try setting up some activities for it, too. Ah, do you know if this Edward is Hei's brother? Hei told me a bit about him and he didn't sound very... polite. Of course, Hei could've been exaggerating a bit.

I would love to have a maypole up for tradition's sake, but all of us are a little old for it, I think. ::chuckles:: Elysia might enjoy it, though... She could invite friends of hers to join. Mm, ja, he is. And really, no, neither of them are particularly polite, but generally I find my double's brother a little easier to get along with. Then again, I have not talked with him terribly extensively... And I do not really know either of them all that well. But they seem agreeable, and Edward gets along with my brother's double, which is why he is invited.

If we did that, I could invite some of the children I know from the hospital. I'm sure Ballie would love it. *smiles* Hei seems pretty polite to me, if a bit crude at times. Anyway, I'm sure his brother isn't as bad as he says he is and I look forward to meeting him.

That would be a lot of fun. I wonder if Edward would possibly allow his children and their mothers to come, too... Those kids of his would enjoy it, I think. The older ones are the right age, anyway. ::shrugs a little:: My double probably acts differently around you than he does around me. I would not call him "polite." But I suppose it is to be expected that he would show respect to women, as is proper. ::smiles::
