I started this post with way too much information. It would have boggled your minds and possibly most of you would not have read it anyways after seeing the length of the post ( Read more... )

I have not seen any of his other projects. I have never met the man, so I don't have any personal knowledge of him. I was eager to watch the film because I've always known our system is suckage. I did get a lot out of it and I plan to share the movie with everyone who is interested in learning the truth about the American health system.

I'm shocked that you've closed your mind so much to the possibility that he might have something good to say... it would be worth your time, in my opinion. I tend to think that everyone is capable of doing a good thing. Sicko is a very good thing and I support this project 100%.

I love that you're not afraid to state your feelings on the matter, but I honestly hope you open your mind up a bit to the idea and watch the film. If you borrow it from the library, you wouldn't be supporting him in a monetary way at all.

You said "I disagree with everything he purports to believe in". Do you know everything he believes in? I'm sure there are things I would disagree with from his as well, but I certainly wouldn't assume that it would be everything.

Have a great weekend. I love you!

If it was anyone other than Michael Moore who had made a documentary about the horrible state of US healthcare, I'd watch it in a heartbeat. However, I will never believe a word that comes out of that man's mouth or anything he films. He manipulates the facts to suit his purposes instead of showing both sides equally. Believe me, I know there are horrible issues with it. I went years without health insurance and had to rely on emergency rooms for my healthcare during a time when my asthma was at its worst. I couldn't pay for it. The hospitals wrote it off because I couldn't pay for it.

I am fortunate to work where I do. We have excellent health insurance and a great prescription plan. My trip to the ER a couple of months ago was well over $1500, but I only have to pay $128 of it. My monthly prescription costs if I used a local pharmacy instead of the mail-order pharmacy, would be well over $200, but instead are around $80. Like I said, though, I am fortunate to work where I do. The pay isn't the greatest, but the benefits can't be beat. Of course, I also don't have children or a spouse that I would have to pay insurance premiums for. *HUGS*

I love you bunches and bunches! And I wouldn't have felt as free to voice my opinions about Michael Moore on anyone else's LJ so you should feel extra special. :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
