Author's Ramblings:  Futurefic!  Sylar/Claire forever!

Disclaimer: I own nothing... except a cute little Honda Civic.

Rating: Umm... PGish now... will be M in later chapters.

Author's Note: AU only in the way that Claire never jumped off the Ferris wheel... man, what a bad decision... but that is a rant for another time...

For years she had feared the end.  The end of humanity had ridden in on swift wings, taking governments and the inhabitants of their countries in mere days.  Claire wasn't really surprised that a virus (a barely mutated form of the common cold, as it were) had wiped out the whole of humanity because honestly, it was the easiest way to destroy the entire world.

There was a period of time where she scoured the planet for just one human survivor.  After about 3 years she gave up the search, resigning herself to a lonely barren world, with perhaps 3 or 4 occupants.  Claire had believed with all her heart that there had to be someone else out there had her ability... anyone else... except him.

'So what if he saved Peter's precious Emma,' Claire thought bitterly, 'Now it's all 'Forgive and Forget!'  What about all the lives he snuffed out without a blink?  Her mom, an emotional weapon that the bastard used against her?  Nathan, while never the best parental figure, who tried to better her life?  All those abilites... all those brains... all that death, how, how, how could he ever be forgiven?!'

"I will never forget," she said aloud to the empty plains of Nebraska, "Never."

"Never is a long time, Claire-Bear," his voice whispers from directly behind her.

'No, no, no, no, NO!' her mind screamed, unable to process anything but denial.  She knew that eventually he would find her, attempt to claim her as his own, and start a new race of murderous freaks with him.  He was more impatient than she would have guessed, but the empty earth they had inherited was draining on the mind and soul.  The loneliness all-consuming at times, pulling her into a pit of depression that at times made her, the one girl unable to feel the sweet release of death, pine for her own end.  These thoughts raced through her mind as she took one deep breath of collection.

Her voice was cold, emotionless and empty, "I didn't expect to see you so soon."

"You should have," was his quiet reply.

She took one more deep breath and turned to face him, "Is there anyone else?  Did you find anyone?"  After asking she managed to pull her

He cocked his head at her managing to look frustrated and amused at the same time, "You already know the answer to that my dear. Did you honestly think that I would let you wander this lifeless rock for three years unobserved?  You are mine, Claire," his voice filled with finality, as if daring her to argue with him.

Claire never could refuse a dare.  She reached deep into her bag of cheerleader tricks and slowly tracked her gaze over his body, insulting him with her eyes, "Dream on, freak."

"Oh Claire," he smiled at her then, for the first time in years, "That was the wrong answer."
