(the one i always requested as a child was by Piet Worm / it involved three ponies frolicking in a meadow who discover a young man wearing a *tree suit*. and he's sort of a prototype for Malcolm McLaren / dresses the ponies as PRINCESSES and takes them to the big city where they are celebrated by the King of Town / ..but the ruse is discovered and they are all cast into prison / sad ponies! .. but wait, the king's daughters ask that the ponies be pardoned. Meanwhile, the fate of proto-Malcolm remains Obscure ..)
you're the guy raised my awareness about the Clean / you and Stephin Merritt. internet says they're having a tour - a mighty abbreviated one - in Early June. D.C. won't be near you by then, it seems. Austin, maybe? who knows. in any case, they will be with Times New Viking in Chapel Hill in a wee and tiny room. i can do this, sure! (the student loan people probably won't be confiscating my Pay till - gosh - Sometime October ..)
i'd love to see th Clean. Of th famous kiwi bands, th only ones I ever got to listen to in person were th Chills. A lot of those geezers are still making good music. Just now I googled th Verlaines and was delighted to discover they put out new albums in 2007 and 2009 (i.e., after I stopped actively seeking new music). Hmm hmm ah wonder if soulseek still works ......
